What is CEREC?
CEREC is short for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It is an exciting new technology that allows Creekside Dentistry to offer quicker, more convenient dental crowns.
How Does It Work?
The device first uses digital imaging to make a 3D model of your mouth. This model replaces messy and uncomfortable dental impressions. Drs. Karl and Walter Neuhaus can then use CAD/CAM technology to digitally plan and design your porcelain crown. An in-office ceramic milling unit makes the crown, which Dr. Neuhaus will test for fit and comfort. Once you are both satisfied, he will permanently fix the crown to your tooth. Thanks to CEREC, the entire process – from preparing your tooth to installing the crown – can be completed in a single appointment.
Why Do I Need Dental Crowns
Advanced cavities and decay are among the most common reasons for dental crowns. However, crowns can address a variety of complaints, including:
- Cracked or damaged teeth
- To support a root canal
- Heavy wear
- “Soft” teeth, or teeth without enamel
